Announcement of new medical college at Nagapattinam soon

NAGAPATTINAM: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa will soon make an announcement on setting up a new medical college at Nagapattinam, Fisheries Minister K A Jayapal has said.

"We can expect a favourable announcement in this regard soon," he said at a function at Nagapattinam District Headquarters Hospital yesterday.

The Minister said Nagapattinam GH had been equipped with all facilities and on an average more than 5000 out-patients were visiting the hospital everyday. "During 2012-13, nearly 18,000 surgeries were performed and 1.27 lakh people have received treatment as in-patients," he said.

District Collector T Munusamy presided over the function.
