Andhra Pradesh plans to make building mobile apps part of curriculum

Making app building an integral part of learning for college-goers, government will introduce course on building apps across skill development centres.

HYDERABAD: Making app building an integral part of learning for college-goers, the government of Andhra Pradesh will introduce a course on building apps across 17 skill development centres in the state. The course will be inaugurated by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu in Vijayawada on January 19, said a government statement.

Students in college and universities can enrol for the programme with AP State Skill Development Corporation ( APSSDC) irrespective of their academic background.

Initiated a month back, the programme aims to train 5000 students by April-May. It has so far generated 3000 mobile applications for various services developed by 650 students.

Mentored by experts from Microsoft and other technology giants, the relevant apps developed as a part of the programme will be absorbed as part of the AP government’s e-governance initiative.

The focus will be on developing solutions for emergency services, agriculture and governance among others, said the government statement.
