AMU vice chancellor resigns

Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor Naseem Ahmad has resigned from the post following differences with leaders of students union.

ALIGARH: Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor Naseem Ahmad has resigned from the post following differences with leaders of students union.
Ahmad, a senior IAS officer from the Haryana cadre, submitted his resignation to the president, the head of the university, last night, university officials said on Sunday.
Though his tenure ends next month, Ahmad has been under pressure for past few weeks following a face-off with leaders of the AMU Students Union on a number of issues related to dates of examinations and attendance.
He was also under pressure on the issue of forming a panel of names for appointing his successor.
Professor Saleemuddin, the pro vice chancellor, has taken over as acting vice chancellor.
