AMU VC moots public-private partnership with industry
Dr Noor Mohammad has mooted a proposal for the University to adopt a system of "public-private partnership" with industry for research projects.
Inaugurating the centenary celebrations of the Department of Physics of the varsity, Dr Noor Mohammad said that the University should move out of fossilised mindsets if it wished to restore its past glory of being a world class institution.
He said that the modern day universities can only maintain their leadership status if they are able to bridge the gap between industry and scientific research.
Earlier, Dr Noor Mohammad, who recently assumed charge as acting Vice Chancellor following an unstable phase in the absence of a permanent Vice Chancellor, cautioned students on the importance of mandatory minimum attendance for appearing in the forthcoming annual examination.
The Vice Chancellor said, "I have come with a limited time-bound agenda for putting back on the rails the University after a turbulent period but there are certain issues on which I will not compromise".
The Vice Chancellor announced, "remedial extra classes will be held for helping the students in achieving the mandatory minimum attendance".
Earlier, addressing the centenary celebrations, Prof Wasi Haider, Chairman, Department of Physics announced that the department had already worked out an agreement with International centre for Theoretical Physics, Italy and the University of Valencia, Spain.
A proposal for setting up a Centre of Bio-crystallography and a Centre of Astronomy at the Department of Physics, AMU was also mooted on the occasion.
