Amrita Patel elected as `interim chairperson' of IRMA

Amrita Patel, the bete noire of India's 'milkman' Verghese Kurein, has been elected as interim chairperson of the Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA) by the institute's board.

ANAND: Amrita Patel, the bete noire of India's 'milkman' Verghese Kurein, has been elected as interim chairperson of the Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA) by the institute's board.
"The board has unanimously accepted the resignation of Kurien," V Ramchandran, an IRMA board member and chairman Centre for Management, Thiruvananthapuram, told mediapersons after the board meeting here.
He said Patel has been elected by the board as the "interim chairperson" of IRMA.
The board has constituted a three-member committee headed by Patel to propose suitable names for a new Chairman, who will replace Kurien. "This committee has been asked to recommend the names within a month," Ramchandran said.
He said Patel had told the board that she was not in the running for the chairmanship of IRMA.
The board also removed acting IRMA director L K Vasvani and elected Neelima Khaitan as the interim director.
"The same committee has been asked to propose names for a new director of IRMA within 19 days," Ramchandran added.
The Director of Indian Institute of Mangement-Ahmedabad Bakul Dholakia and Vijay Mahajan are the two other members of this committee.
