Thomson Scientific says customer base growing in India
Information solutions provider Thomson Scientific, a part of Thomson Corporation, today said its customer base in India is growing.
Vin Caraher, president and chief executive officer, told reporters here today that India was one of the fastest growing markets in Asia Pacific for the company, with a 45 per cent year-on-year growth in 2006.
"TS derives more than 50 per cent of revenues from outside US, while India represents more than ten per cent of R&D spent in all of Asia," he said.
Global patent activity had also grown by 72 percent over the last ten years in the country with a 34 percent increase in unique inventions.
The company's clients in India included reputed organisations like the Indian Institute of Science, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science and Advanced Research Centre International (ACRI), among others.
He also announced that Council for Scientific and Industrial Research has purchased Thomson Scientific's ISIWeb of Knowledge,a research platform that will deliver access to high quality information in various fields.
