NTPC bags Sri Lankan consultancy project
NTPC Consultancy Wing has bagged the contract for providing Engineering Consultancy Services to Trincomalee Power Company Ltd. (TPCL) for setting up 2x250 MW Coal Based Power Project.
The contract agreement between NTPC and Trincomalee Power Company Ltd. (TPCL) was signed at Colombo on on Thursday in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka’s second coal fired thermal power plant is being implemented as a joint venture of Ceylon Electricity Board and NTPC. The Joint Venture Company has been incorporated as Trincomalee Power Company Ltd. It is responsible for implementation and operation of the 2 X 250MW coal power plant in Sampur. The total estimated cost of the project would be USD 512 Million.
The Sampoor Coal Power Plant will comprise two 250 MW power generators. The power generated will be transmitted to the national grid through high voltage transmission lines from Sampoor through Habarana to the Veyangoda Grid Substations in Sri Lanka.
Power Purchase Agreement, implementation agreement, land lease agreement and coal supply agreement were signed on in 2013 by relevant parties including GOSL, CEB and JV Company. The project is expected to be commissioned before end of 2017.
