Law Firm SAM & Co’s Partners Iqbal Khan and Ambarish to Join JSA with 20-Member Team
Iqbal Khan and Ambarish from Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co are moving to J Sagar Associates with their team. The move will enhance JSA's PE and M&A practice, as stated by Amit Kapur and Vivek K. Chandy.
An alumnus of the London School of Economics and Political Science and Columbia University School of Law, Khan began his career with the US-headquartered firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP in 2008, later moving to Kirkland & Ellis LLP. In August 2013, he joined the Indian full-service firm Khaitan & Co, and in 2015 he transitioned to SAM & Co.
“The excellent PE and M&A practice of JSA will receive a significant boost with this move, and the entire firm is delighted to welcome this team of 20 lawyers, including 5 partners,” said Amit Kapur and Vivek K. Chandy, Joint Managing Partners of JSA Advocates and Solicitors, in a joint statement. “Iqbal and Ambarish are outstanding corporate lawyers who recognise the advantages of working with JSA, which has consistently aspired to be India's premier law firm,” the statement added.
During his tenure at SAM & Co, Khan represented TPG in major investments, including deals with Pharmeasy, Reliance Industries' Retail Ventures, and Jio Platforms, among others.
Ambarish has advised PE giant Advent in its control acquisition of Suven Pharmaceuticals Ltd and guided PharmEasy in its acquisition of the listed company Thyrocare Technologies Ltd, along with the related mandatory open offer.
Founded in 1991, JSA is a full-service law firm with over 450 lawyers operating out of seven locations: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and New Delhi.
