New Delhi: India opened up its records of more than 30,000 independent directors and aspirants to select global headhunters on Friday to make it easier for companies to hire such key personnel.

The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), with which all independent directors and those aspiring to take on such roles are mandated to register, signed a memorandum of understanding with six executive search firms - Korn Ferry, ABC Consultants, EMA Partners, DHR Global, Sheffield Haworth and Vahura.

Prior to the move, only companies were allowed to access the IICA databank, which is a repository of details of those professionals eligible to serve as independent directors.

ET had on August 12 reported that since large listed companies and conglomerates often outsource to search firms the job of due diligence of potential candidates, IICA was planning to make the data bank available to the global headhunters as well.
