DSP Merrill Lynch ropes in Indranil Sen Gupta

DSP Merrill Lynch has appointed Indranil Sen Gupta as chief India economist.

MUMBAI: DSP Merrill Lynch has appointed Indranil Sen Gupta as chief India economist.

Gupta will be responsible for analysing India’s economic trends and formulating Merrill Lynch’s Indian economics, interest rate and macro economic outlooks for its traditional equity and fixed income clients, macro edge funds and business partners.

Prior to joining DSP Merrill Lynch, Gupta was the chief economist at Kotak Securities in Mumbai, a position he held since September 2005.

He also spent ten years at the Reserve Bank of India as a staff economist, analysing monetary conditions and forecasting inflation, latterly as assistant advisor in the division of money & banking in the department of economic analysis & policy.

Indranil also served as co-convener of the Reserve Bank’s advisory group on insurance regulation.
