Ananthasubramanian to continue as ICSI president for now

The apex grouping for company secretaries were scheduled to elect their new president for 2014 yesterday.

"ICSI at its meeting held on January 19 2014, requested CS S N Ananthasubramanian, President and CS Harish K Vaid, Vice President to continue to hold office...until such time as a new President and a new Vice President are elected and take charge of their duties," ICSI said in a statement.
Generally, the vice president takes over the mantle of president.
An ICSI spokesperson did not give further details on the issue when contacted.
ICSI is a premier national professional body to develop and regulate the profession of company secretaries.
It has on its roll over 35,000 members and over 4 lakh students.
The affairs of ICSI are managed by a Council consisting of 15 elected members and five nominees of the Central Government.
