VGC wins silver world medal at NY Fest '07

VGC has won the silver world medal at New York Festivals 2007 for best effects in the film & video category for the Aditya Birla Group (ABG) commercial.

MUMBAI: VGC has won the silver world medal at New York Festivals 2007 for best effects in the film & video category for the Aditya Birla Group (ABG) commercial.

“This is a first for the Indian advertising industry. While we have won many awards across categories, the best effects or special effects have typically been the domain of the west with US agencies winning it for the last 3 years. This proves that Indian ads not only have the ideas but also the scale and the reach to match the best in the world,” said Preeti Vyas Giannetti, chairwoman & Chief Creative Officer, VGC.

VGC worked with an international director, production house and a crew of 500 creative technicians; who worked across three continents for eight months to make this commercial. This film is directed by Yariv Gaber from Israel. The film was conceived in India, shot in Hungary and post production was done in Canada and Israel. In all, 408 sequences were shot, which was then edited to 58 for the final one minute edit.

Post production took place under Ilan Bouni. Each shot is made up of multiple layers containing different visual elements. The entire post production was done over a period of four months and comprised a team of 22 digital artists who worked across Europe and America.

Using Vande Mataram as a base, French music director Phillipe Gozlan created a sonic sketch of ABG’s multinational character. He blended music from Tibetan, Indian, Middle Eastern and Western cultures to come up with the powerful soundtrack.
