Old team exiting Contract Advertising: CEO Umesh Shirkhande quits, Ravi Deshpande may resign soon
Just two months after Colvyn Harris was named the JWT South Asia CEO with additional charge of Contract Advertising, the old guard at Contract seems to have decided to check out.
While emails sent to Harris and Shirkhande fetched no response, Deshpande responded saying, "I reconfirm once again that I haven't quit Contract."
Agency executives said Contract's shrinking revenues and performance had been put under the spotlight after Harris took over.
Both Deshpande and Shirkhande were rumoured to be unhappy about the change in reporting structure, and hard questions about agency performance only served to worsen the equations.
While it is unclear at the moment whether Deshpande and Shirkhande will stay on until a new management is put in place, sources said Harris has requested the duo to stay so as to ensure a smooth transition.
