BANGALORE: Nike is intensifying efforts to connect with its cricket-crazy Indian customers. After pipping rivals Adidas and Reebok to win the rights to endorse the brand through Team India, Nike is unleashing a new advertising campaign to celebrate the fine moments of cricket in the country.

“We are releasing the first ‘Just Do It’ cricket campaign that has been created and produced with a country-specific focus by Nike,” said Sanjay Gangopadhyay, marketing director, Nike India. Typically, Nike sticks to its global advertising across countries.

Created by JWT and produced by Illusions, the “first Indian ad for Nike customers in the country showcases the company’s commitment to India,” Mr Gangopadhyay told ET. Without giving numbers, he said the company has planned “substantial investment” in India where it is seeing “triple-digit growth.”

Going forward, Nike India will focus on mono-brand outlets to showcase the face of the brand while a combination of mutli-brand outlets and exclusive stores will be used for deeper market penetration.
