DAVP increases advertisement rates by 24 per cent

Newspaper owners throughout the country have reason to rejoice as Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) has increased the advertisement rates by 24 per cent across the board.

NEW DELHI: Newspaper owners throughout the country have a reason to rejoice as Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) has increased the advertisement rates by 24 per cent across the board.

The proposal was mooted by Information and Broadcasting Minister P R Dasmunsi after several newspaper owners made representations for increase in advertisement rates as the cost of expenditure and newsprint have increased.

The proposal has been cleared by the finance ministry and has come into effect from September one this year, the sources said.

More than 4,000 newspapers are registered with the DAVP.
