Aksh Optifibre, a Gurgaon-based BSE-listed company, has announced a new platform for advertising called A-tube as part of its internet protocol television (IPTV) services, which it hopes will generate $250 million in sales over the next one year, Aksh Optifibre CFO Satyendra Gupta told ET.

Aksh is the content service provider and sends its services via MTNL broadband services. It has recently signed an agreement with BSNL for their broadband services. The set-top box is manufactured by Aksh and provided to subscribers along with IPTV services.

A-tube, advertising via IPTV, is a channel provided by Aksh which will store advertisements from various sectors such as lifestyle, food and travel, education, real estate and matrimonial in its inventory. This will be made available to the subscriber at any time they choose.

The subscriber can access any advertisement he/she wants by selecting the desired category from the navigation bar provided on A-tube. The viewer can now choose his own ad on the click of a button. A-tube is an equivalent to yellow pages, but with video and interactive features.

Advertising via IPTV will give the advertiser an edge over TV advertising as the ad duration has no limit and the viewer can contact the advertiser directly for purchases. ���This service will allow subscribers to access advertisement-on-demand and will be interactive, allowing the subscriber to make his/her purchases online,��� said Aksh Optifibre IPTV president Ashish Bhanu.
