BJP splurges on ads ahead of assembly elections
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leaving no stone unturned to promote the party’s manifesto and agenda as five states go to the hustings to elect new legislative assemblies.
From August till November 2018, BJP’s share of advertising was at 58% of the overall ad insertions from the political parties across India and 2.5 times more than the closest party, Indian National Congress, data from AdEx India, a division of TAM Media Research, showed.
In the political advertising category, National Parties (BJP & Congress) together contributed 85% share of overall ad insertion share of political parties during August – November 2018, across television, print and radio.
By definition, political advertising includes advertising or publicity about a party, its representative or candidate, and government policies etc to largely influence the audience or masses. Political advertising usually includes election advertising, where the ads or campaigns try to influence voters in the upcoming elections.

Interestingly, BJP had nearly 2.5 times more ad insertions over Congress, while regional parties like Telangana Rashtra Samiti and Jana Sena ranked third and fourth due to respective State Assembly elections.
