Toyota Kirloskar Motor is set to unveil the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV in India tomorrow, January 20, 2026. The upcoming electric SUV is basically a rebadged version of Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara but it will have some distinct design elements to differentiate it with the original version.

Like with other rebranded versions, the Urban Cruiser EV will have the familiar silhouette of the e-Vitara but Toyota has given it a more pronounced identity up front. As per the teaser shared by Toyota earlier, the SUV gets a redesigned, muscular front with wide, sculpted grille and sharper detailing in line with Toyota’s global EV design language. The side profile remains clean, featuring black body cladding, flush rear door handles mounted on the C-pillar, and large aerodynamically styled 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels.

At the rear, the design stays conservative with connected LED tail lamps, an integrated roof spoiler, a high-mounted stop lamp and a silver skid plate. A compact fog lamp sits low on the rear bumper, adding a subtle rugged touch.

Dimensionally, the Urban Cruiser EV measures 4,285mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,640mm in height, with a 2,700mm wheelbase. Toyota has tuned it for urban usability as well, offering a 5.2-metre turning radius.

Toyota Urban Cruiser EV Interior and features
The interior features are still not known but it is expected to mirror the e-Vitara with Toyota branding being the most obvious difference. So like the e-Vitara, the Toyota EV is expected to have dual floating screen setup, consisting of a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. A gloss-black floating centre console houses the gear selector, drive mode controls, electronic parking brake and a wireless charging pad. Design highlights include a two-spoke steering wheel, rectangular AC vents with brushed silver surrounds, blue-themed digital graphics and leatherette seat upholstery.

Feature highlights are expected to include wireless smartphone connectivity, panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, ADAS, 360-degree camera, electric parking brake with auto-hold, and multiple connected-car features.

Battery options, range and performance

The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV most likely to come with the same two battery pack choices — 49kWh and 61kWh.

The 49kWh version uses a front-mounted single motor producing 144hp and 189Nm of torque.

The 61kWh variant also remains front-wheel-drive but delivers a higher 174hp, with torque unchanged at 189Nm.

The larger battery is expected to offer a claimed driving range of up to 550km on a single charge.

For buyers seeking extra traction, Toyota will also offer an all-wheel-drive version, featuring a dual-motor setup (one on each axle) with a combined output of 184hp and 300Nm.
