Toyota Kirloskar Motor has officially launched its first-ever electric vehicle in India, the Urban Cruiser EV. This mid-size SUV marks the company’s entry into the country’s mass-market electric vehicle segment, taking on competitors like the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, and the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara.

The carmaker is offering an eight-year battery warranty, BaaS, and 60% assured buyback. The EV comes with 128 kW power, 189 Nm torque, and 49 kWh & 61 kWh battery options, delivering up to 543 km range.

Dimensionally, the Urban Cruiser EV measures 4,285mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,640mm in height, with a 2,700mm wheelbase. Toyota has tuned it for urban usability as well, offering a 5.2-metre turning radius.


Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella: Design
In terms of design, the Urban Cruiser Ebella shares its silhouette and overall dimensions with the e-Vitara but stands apart with Toyota-specific styling elements. Up front, it features a revised fascia with segmented LED DRLs, redesigned headlamps, and a slimmer bumper, giving it a cleaner and less angular look compared to its Maruti counterpart.

The side profile remains largely unchanged, save for newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the SUV gets an updated LED tail-lamp signature along with Urban Cruiser and Ebella badging. The model will be offered in five monotone and four dual-tone exterior colour options.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella: Battery and powertrain

The Urban Cruiser Ebella will be available with two battery pack options: a 49 kWh unit and a larger 61 kWh pack. The bigger battery is claimed to deliver a range of up to 543 km on a single charge. In terms of performance, the electric SUV produces up to 172 hp and 189 Nm of torque.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella: Cabin and features

Inside, the cabin layout remains largely unchanged. On the features front, the electric SUV is equipped with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additional highlights include cloud-based navigation, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting with 12 colour options, and ventilated front seats.

Other features include wireless phone charging, a JBL sound system, automatic climate control, multiple USB ports, and an in-cabin air purifier.

In terms of safety, the Urban Cruiser Ebella comes with seven airbags as standard, along with ABS, EBD, ESP, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS features such as Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, Adaptive Cruise Control, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and more.
