The move marks Tesla’s formal entry into the world’s third-largest automobile market with the launch of its midsize SUV, the Model Y, starting at nearly ₹60 lakh. Initially, the Model Y will be the only offering in India, available in two rear-wheel drive variants — the standard version at ₹60 lakh and the Long Range (LR) version at ₹68 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom and subject to local taxes.
Customers can add Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) package for an extra ₹6 lakh. The SUV will be offered in six colours, with Stealth Grey included in the base price, while Pearl White Multi-Coat, Diamond Black, Ultra Red, Quicksilver, and Glacier Blue carry an additional cost. Interior trims come in black or white, with a five-seat layout.
Deliveries and registrations will initially be available in Mumbai, Delhi, and Gurugram, with the first handovers expected in Q3 2025. The standard Model Y offers a range of 455 km, while the LR RWD variant extends that to 622 km and accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. Both support Tesla’s supercharging technology, delivering up to 267 km of range in just 15 minutes.
Comfort features include heated and ventilated front seats with power recline, power-folding and heated rear seats, a hands-free power trunk, and advanced driver-assistance supported by eight exterior cameras and second-generation connectivity hardware.
Tesla has also opened its first charging facility in Mumbai’s BKC to support early adopters. The company’s entry, led by the Model Y, signals a high-profile push into India’s growing EV market with a mix of range, performance, and premium tech.
