Tata Power Company's subsidiary Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) and NHPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NHPC-REL) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to install rooftop solar projects across government buildings of Central ministries, states, and Union Territories.

The initiative, under the PM Surya Ghar Yojna Scheme, aims for complete solarisation of government-owned buildings by December 2025, Tata Power said in a regulatory filing.

The company said that the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has appointed NHPC Ltd as a scheme implementing partner to drive the rooftop solar projects, which will be carried out by its wholly-owned subsidiary, NHPC-REL.
