Tata Power Company on Tuesday announced that it proposed to acquire 40 per cent equity stake for Rs 830 crore in Khorlochhu Hydro Power Limited (KHPL).


The acquisition will be done in one or more tranches for which Share Purchase Agreement would also be executed between the Company, existing Shareholder of KHPL and KHPL, Tata Power said in a release. Post-acquisition, KHPL will become an associate company of Tata Power and consequently a related party.



The move aims to develop the 600 MW Khorlochhu Hydropower Project in Bhutan with an investment of Rs 6,900 crore. The first tranche would be completed tentatively in six months, the release said. The project will support Tata Power to accelerate its clean and green energy transition.
