ReNew Energy has announced setting up a 6.5 GW solar ingot-wafer manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh with an investment of Rs 4,200 crore. The foundation stone for the facility was laid on Thursday by the state's chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

This facility in Anakapalli district near Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh is part of ReNew’s Rs 82,000 crore investment it committed to Andhra Pradesh in November 2025

The company said in a statement that commissioning of the plant, which is claims is one of the first Greenfield Solar Ingot-Wafer Manufacturing Facilities in India is expected within 24 months. It added that this is expected to create over 2,100 direct and indirect jobs in the state.

For the company, the facility will enable backward integration of ReNew’s solar PV module and cell manufacturing by producing ingots and wafers, critical upstream components in the solar supply chain.

“This investment strengthens our position as a hub for clean energy and advanced manufacturing, while creating jobs and driving economic development in the state," CM Naidu said in a statement.

Sumant Sinha, Founder, Chairman and CEO of ReNew said that this facility will help it set up an integrated clean energy ecosystem.

ReNew is also setting up one of India’s largest hybrid renewable energy projects in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur district with plans to invest around Rs 22,000 crore. With a generation capacity of around 2.8 GW, including 1.8 GWp solar and 1 GW wind, and a battery energy storage system (BESS) of 2 GW, the company claims this will be one of the largest RE complexes at a single location in India.
