Power body readies plan for Lakshadweep decarbonisation

NEW DELHI: As part of its decarbonisation strategy for Lakshadweep, the Central Electricity Authority is formulating an integrated energy road map that incorporates both short-term and long-term planning including various generation scenarios like inter-island grid interconnections, potential linkage to the mainland transmission network, and deployment of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind, along with battery energy storage systems (BESS), people close the development said.

Feasibility reports for all works are in the works. The Central Transmission Utility is working on a feasibility plan of undersea cables.
