Delivering India's national statement at the 16th Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Abu Dhabi, renewable energy minister Pralhad Joshi said the transition would require unprecedented levels of investment, with India alone expected to need around $300 billion by 2030.
This would create significant opportunities across renewable generation, energy storage, green hydrogen, grids and clean energy manufacturing, he pointed out.
The minister said India remains one of the world's fastest-growing major energy markets, and is prioritising reliable and resilient power systems through rapid deployment of energy storage solutions, grid modernisation, green energy corridors and innovative bidding mechanisms.
It is an attractive destination for clean energy investment with its stable policies and transparent markets, he said.
The minister noted that the country's approach to the energy transition is anchored in equity, inclusivity and long-term policy stability.
Joshi reiterated India's commitment to achieving 500 gigawatts of non-fossil fuel installed power capacity by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2070.
