Under the pact, Jio’s Hinglish voice assistant system, Hello Jio, will offer versatile in-car voice assistance to Indian users driving the new Comet EV -- MG India’s latest smart electric vehicle.
Jio Platforms houses parent Reliance Industries’ telecom and digital properties.
The embedded `Hello Jio’ voice assistant is trained to understand native Indian speakers with diverse regional dialects and tonality. It will allow Indian users (read: riders) to go beyond regular in-vehicle command and controls, in that, it will offer voice services such as dialogs providing information on cricket, weather, news, horoscope amongst others. The user can also turn on the AC, play songs or catch the latest cricket score with simple voice commands, the companies said in a joint media statement.
Jio’s Hinglish voice assistant system is also integrated with music apps, payment apps, connectivity platforms and hardware. Further, MG Comet EV also comes integrated with Jio’s eSIM that plays a key role in improving vehicle safety as it was integrated during the manufacturing process.
“Hello Jio Voice Assistant, streaming, payment apps, eSIM, Jio IOT will enable MG users to access real-time connectivity, infotainment, and connected car experiences with a new dimension,” Ashish Lodha, president, Jio Platforms, said in a statement Monday.
Gaurav Gupta, deputy managing director, MG Motor India, in turn, said the partnership with Jio in the smart mobility space is a step towards establishing MG Motor as a tech leader in India’s automobile industry. “The MGI-Jio partnership will ensure our newly launched MG Comet EV enriches the driving experience for GenZ customers while ensuring safety and In-Car experiences backed by great technology.”
