Mumbai: Larsen & Toubro's clean energy arm, L&T Energy GreenTech Ltd (LTEGL), has signed a long-term agreement with Japan's ITOCHU Corporation to supply 300,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually, the company said in a regulatory filing on Wednesday. The agreement builds on a joint development pact signed in July 2025.

Under the deal, LTEGL will supply green ammonia from its upcoming facility in Kandla on a long-term, take-or-pay basis. The project is expected to position Kandla as a key export hub for low-carbon fuels, in line with the National Green Hydrogen Mission's goal of boosting green energy exports.

L&T deputy managing director Subramanian Sarma said the agreement strengthens the commercial viability of the company's green ammonia platform and advances its clean energy plans.

ITOCHU plans to use the ammonia primarily for marine fuel applications, particularly in Singapore, a major global bunkering centre.

"Establishing a reliable and scalable supply of green ammonia is critical to accelerating its adoption as marine fuel," said Hiroyuki Tsubai, executive vice president, member of the board and president-machinery company, ITOCHU Corporation.
