India made significant progress in many SDGs with per capita income climbing to Rs 1.97 lakh: FM Sitharaman
India has made significant progress in many Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the per capita income has increased to Rs 1.97 lakh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Wednesday.
Sitharaman said that the government's efforts since 2014 have improved the lives of the nation's residents.
The nation's total SDG score was 66 out of 100, according to the "State of India's Environment Report 2022" published by the Centre for Science and Environment.
All United Nations member states ratified the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in 2015, which offers a shared road map for world peace and prosperity for people and the environment. This agenda includes the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as additional elements. All nations are urged to take immediate action as part of a global cooperation by the 17 SDGs.
Some of these goals are no poverty, zero hunger, good health and wellbeing, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, industry, innovation and infrastructure, reduced inequalities, sustainable cities and communities, strengthening global partnerships for the goal, among others.
