New Delhi: The government is confident of achieving 100 GW of wind energy capacity by 2030 and 156 GW by 2036, renewable energy minister Pralhad Joshi said on Wednesday. India is positioning wind power as a key pillar of its clean energy transition, he said at a wind energy conference.

The country added a record 6.1 GW of wind capacity in FY26, taking total installed capacity to more than 56.1 GW, with an additional 28 GW under implementation. To meet climate goals, India will need to add nearly 10 GW of wind capacity annually over the next decade, Joshi said.
