E-passenger vehicle volumes were 37,049 units in the previous month, up 76.47 per cent from 20,995 units retailed in October last year, with a 7.3 per cent market share versus 3.5 per cent in the same month last year, FADA said.

At the same time, electric commercial vehicle sales stood at 4,492 units in the month under review as against 1,884 eCVs sold in October 2025, as per the data.
"EV retails touched an all-time high of about 3.55 lakh units, up 44.88 per cent year-on-year, lifting overall EV penetration to roughly 11.5 per cent from about 6 per cent a year ago ' a best-ever October for electric two and three-wheelers, passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles alike, said FADA President Sai Giridhar.
Stating that demand ran ahead of supply this month with petrol and diesel prices continuing to remain elevated, he said, "Electric vehicle driving ranges have now materially improved and EV prices are increasingly at par with comparable petrol and diesel models; buyer pull has strengthened to the point where availability, not demand, became the binding constraint."
Three-wheelers, now close to 63% electric, posted their best-ever October, and with buyers continuing to move towards CNG, hybrid and electric options, alternative fuels once again nudged past petrol in the passenger vehicle mix, he noted.
"This steady, broad-based shift to cleaner mobility, holding firm even in a base-distorted month, is among the most encouraging structural signals in Indian auto retail today," added Giridhar.
