The renewable purchase obligation enforcement as well as aggregation of demand from states by tendering agencies are the key measures for green energy capacity addition and for signing of power purchase agreements, ReNew CEO Sumant Sinha told ET.

Despite capacity addition in renewable energy going as fast as possible, it is not enough to meet power demand growth which is even higher given the large base of the country, he said at the India Energy Week. Consultation with states before tendering capacities by agencies like the Solar Energy Corporation of India will resolve the delay in signing PPAs to a great extent. However, it may slow down bidding capacities in the initial stage, he added.
