BHEL-Hitachi to develop India's largest private power transmission project worth Rs 12,000 crore

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Hitachi Energy India will jointly develop India's largest private sector power transmission project. The roughly Rs 12,000 crore contract was awarded by Adani Energy Solutions to design and deliver high-voltage direct current (HVDC) terminals. These will transmit renewable energy from Rajasthan's Bhadla to the industrial and transport hub in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh.

A Hitachi statement said the 6,000 megawatt (MW), 950 kilometre HVDC link can power approximately 60 million households in India. BHEL said this is it's fourth such project. The scope includes converter transformers, AC/DC control and protection, thyristor valves, 765 kV/400 kV grid connections, and auxiliary systems to be delivered by Hitachi Energy India and its consortium partner BHEL.

This contract has been awarded by Rajasthan Part I Power Transmission Limited, a subsidiary of Adani Energy Solutions. The project is part of the transmission system to transfer power from the potential renewable energy zone in the Bhadla area of Rajasthan under Phase-III Part I, which was awarded to AESL based on tariff-based competitive bidding.
