IKEA opens first 'Hej HOME' in India at Hyderabad, to offer over 7,000 products
The next store will come up in Mumbai in 2019 which will be bigger than the Hyderabad store with five lakh square feet.
Ikea appointed Snowman Logistics in October to manage back-end operations of its in-store restaurant business in India. “We are looking for logistics partners for home delivery of goods and other operations,” said Patrik Antoni, deputy country manager, Ikea India.
He declined to divulge further details on these partnerships. Antoni spoke to journalists at the launch of Ikea’s first experience zone in India, Hej Home, at the Forum Mall in Hyderabad on Wednesday. The furniture giant is setting up its first India store in Hyderabad, spread over 400,000 square feet, which will house the largest restaurant for Ikea globally, with a seating capacity of 1,000. The Hyderabad store is expected to open early next year.
Antoni said Ikea was exploring options for selling products online. “While we won’t be looking at marketplaces, we will later look at having our own portals,” he said.
