Why was Big B chosen over Ambani as brand ambassador? Cong

VADODARA: Congress today asked Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi why Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani was not appointed as brand ambassador of the state instead of actor Amitabh Bachchan.

"Ambani is a towering personality and a well-known Gujarati who has played very important role in the development of industries and other sectors in the country," B K Hariprasad, Congress General Secretary and in-charge of Gujarat, said addressing a convention of party workers here.

Hariprasad said he wanted to know from Chief Minister Narendra Modi as to why he preferred Bachchan over Ambani and ignored the contributions of Gujaratis.

Hariprasad's comments come in wake of Modi describing critics of Bachchan as "Talibans of untouchability".

"Bachchan is a great artiste with legendary humility and achievements, who has chosen to celebrate the glorious heritage of Gujarat even while facing a lot of criticism from many quarters. This is inspiring," Modi had said.
