'Wall Street' leads market with $19 million debut

Movie fans are investing in Michael Douglas and Oliver Stone's ``Wall Street'' sequel.

LOS ANGELES: Movie fans are investing in Michael Douglas and Oliver Stone's ``Wall Street'' sequel.

``Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps'' debuted as the No. 1 weekend movie with $19 million, leading a crop of so-so to weak newcomers.

The sequel to 1987's ``Wall Street'' reunites director Stone and Douglas, who reprises his role as investment shark Gordon Gekko. The movie co-stars Shia LaBeouf, Carey Mulligan and Josh Brolin in a tale set amid the 2008 economic meltdown.

The animated adventure ``Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga' Hoole'' opened in second place with $16.3 million. The mother-daughter comedy ``You Again'' debuted at No. 5 with an anemic $8.3 million.
