Virtual world tweets support for SRK flick
Bollywood celebrities tweeted on the Internet to voice their support for MNIK.

MUMBAI: The Internet buzzed with blogs, tweets, status updates and reviews about My Name is Khan throughout Friday. Shah Rukh Khan's latest release was one of the most-searched topics on Google in the US and India for over five hours. Internationally, Google Trends statistics for February showed that most MNIK searches originated from users in Pakistan, followed by Sri Lanka, India, the UAE and Malaysia.
Among the cities, users from Mangalore, Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai were keying in MNIK on Google.
Twitter, too, had to officially define MNIK to the international audience after it started trending for over seven hours. The definition read, “MNIK is a popular topic on Twitter right now. My Name Is Khan, the Bollywood film is releasing on Friday (February 12) with huge security at cinemas owing to a right-wing organisation's threat.”
Shah Rukh, who is away for Berlinale, the Berlin Film Festival, had an emotional outburst on Twitter starting at 3.30 p.m. He profusely thanked his fans and said, “My fellow countrymen, I regret if anything I said wittingly or unwittingly disturbed any sentiments.”
Compulsive tweeter Anand Mahindra congratulated SRK, “Suspect MNIK will earn much higher revs (revenues) abroad than usual. Finally, a crossover? Planning to see it this weekend.” Mahesh Bhatt and Vishal Dadlani tweeted from PVR and Fun Republic.
“I've come to Fun to watch MNIK. My presence here should speak volumes about my stand!” tweeted Bhatt. Dadlani wrote, “At PVR Juhu. No stress. Great security, and the show goes on! Freedom wins, fascism loses.”
