UTV veteran Ronald D’Mello puts in his papers

Ronald D’Mello, a veteran with the Ronnie Screwvala-promoted UTV Software Communications, has put in his papers.

MUMBAI: Ronald D’Mello, a veteran with the Ronnie Screwvala-promoted UTV Software Communications, has put in his papers. Mr D’Mello, who held several key positions UTV, from director-operations and finance to chief operating officer, was recently put in charge of UTV-UK as its CEO.

He was to head UTV’s new media initiatives including its animation arm UTV Toons and post-production arm UTV Post. He was to look after investments in console game development company, Ignition UK, as well as Indian mobile and online game company India Games, which UTV recently acquired. Mr D’Mello is a UTV board member and holds a stake in the company.It is believed that the differences emerged between him and UTV chairman and CEO Ronnie Screwvala led to his exit. But, both Mr Screwvala and Mr D’Mello declined to comment.

Sources said that differences in the running of the company’s operations led to a fallout between Mr Screwvala and Mr D’Mello. Despite his exit, Mr D’Mello will continue to hold his stake in UTV, sources said.
