Uday Shankar appointed Star India COO

Star India on Monday announced Uday Shankar, currently CEO of Media Content & Communications Services (MCCS), as its new chief operating officer.

MUMBAI: Star India on Monday announced Uday Shankar, currently CEO of Media Content & Communications Services (MCCS), as its new chief operating officer.

The announcement was made in a joint statement by STAR and MCCS. MCCS is a 74:26 joint venture between Ananda Bazar Patrika Group and STAR Group.

Mr Shankar will join STAR India shortly, reporting to Star Asia CEO Paul Aiello. He will oversee the company’s overall operations, and content and communications.

Executive vice-president Ajay Vidyasa-gar and ad sales and distribution president Paritosh Joshi, will report to Mr Shankar.

Prior to joining MCCS, Mr Shankar was the editor and news director at India Today, launching Aaj Tak and Headlines Today. Prior to that, he launched the news division of Sahara TV.
