Toonz Animation India, one of the country’s leading animation players, has a slew of overseas assignments in its kitty from media and entertainment biggies like BBC, Marvel and Paramount.

KOLKATA: Toonz Animation India, one of the country’s leading animation players, has a slew of overseas assignments in its kitty from media and entertainment biggies like BBC, Marvel and Paramount. Currently, it is negotiating with some top Hollywood studios for at least three animated films, each with budgets of $25-30m.

“We’ve just started work on a 40-episode 3D television series called Freefonix, which is an E14.9-m JV between BBC and another UK-based company. We expect to complete it by July ’07,” P Jayakumar, CEO, Toonz Animation India, told ET.

Toonz is working on a $10m 26-episode TV series, X-Men and Wolverine for Marvel Studios in a 2D and 3D format mix. It has also bagged a three-movie DVD deal with Paramount, the total worth amounts to $9m. As part of contract production, Toonz is working on several other overseas jobs. These include a Halloween special for Sky TV, a 39-episode TV series for a French company and a 52-episode 2D TV series Novel Entertainment, UK.
