Strategic alliance for creation of digital intermediaries

Warner Bros. Motion Picture Imaging and City based Prasad Corporation have formed a strategic alliance for creation of Digital Intermediaries and Digital Restoration for Hollywood and Indian films.

CHENNAI: Warner Bros. Motion Picture Imaging and City based Prasad Corporation have formed a strategic alliance for creation of Digital Intermediaries and Digital Restoration for Hollywood and Indian films.

The alliance would bring together the skills and technological expertise, of the two post production facilities majors, to deliver digital post production and restoration to clients in Hollywood, India and across the world, an official of Prasad Corporation said.

He said Prasad had begun working with Motion Picture Imaging to restore the Three Oscar award winning 1963 movie 'How the West was Won', that was originally shot on Cinerama. "It will be completed soon," he said.

Prasad had recently colourised and restored the 1956 Bollywood movie 'Naya Daur' that was release a couple of months ago.

The alliance also allows the two companies to transfer content between them on a dedicated line.

Chuck Dages, Executive Vice President, Emerging technology, Warner Bros Technical Operation said in a release, "We have an extensive set of tools for post production and restoration that we can apply to our various projects and the Prasad facility can handle standard definitions, 2K and 4K."

Apart from bringing their combined skills to each other's projects, the time difference between the two companies would allow a project to be worked upon 24 hours a day, the official said.
