State to resolve cable operators, consumer dispute

In a bid to encourage the entertainment sector in Uttar Pradesh, the state government today decided to form committees in all districts to resolve problems and disputes of cable operators and consumers.

LUCKNOW: In a bid to encourage the entertainment sector in Uttar Pradesh, the state government today decided to form committees in all districts to resolve problems and disputes of cable operators and consumers.
The government has also initiated steps to exempt films from entertainment tax, Minister of State for Entertainment Tax, Dinesh Singh told media persons here and added that multiplexes had been given a number of relaxations for a five year period.
He said that a total income of Rs 112.30 crore was received from entertainment tax during 2004-05. The target for collection of Rs 120 crore in form of entertainment tax was fixed for the year 2005-06, as against Rs 114.52 crore income earned.
