SM Tamil to release on an auspicious Friday
Even as Indian filmdom looks to Slumdog Millionaire to boost its value in international market, Falcon films, which has bought the Tamil rights for the movie has put off the release of the dubbed version.
"One does not release movies on a Monday, Oscars or not!" said producer K Natarajan, who heads Falcon. The release day, "27th falls auspiciously on a Friday, and that is when the movie will hit the screens all over Tamil Nadu."
Actor Simbu has lent his voice for the lead played by Dev Patil, and veteran playback singer S P Balasubramaniam for Anil Kapoor in the dubbed version titled Naanum Koteeswaran (I am a millionaire too).
"The film will be released in 200 theatres across the state, 7 of which will be in Chennai," Mr Natarajan said. The multiplexes in Chennai, which have been running the original successfully will continue to do so, and not run the Tamil version.
"How the movie promotion will be done is a suspense, as we are eagerly awaiting A R Rahmans arrival, and hoping he can make it for the inaugural day," Mr Natarajan said.
