LONDON: Oscar hopeful 'Slumdog Millionaire' has won four prizes at the Richard Attenborough Film awards.

British director Danny Boyle's film which bagged four Golden Globes earlier this month was named Film of the Year, with Boyle winning the best director's prize and teenage actor Dev Patel receiving the 'Rising Star' award.

Patel, who previously acted in a TV series 'Skins' for E4, also won the British Breakthrough Star prize, in a new People's Choice award, 'E!Online' reported.

"I have been absolutely amazed by the sheer scale and scope of the reaction to this film and I want to thank everyone for their support," the 18-year-old actor said.

Kate Winslet picked up another best actress prize, for 'The Reader'.

"I am thrilled to have been honoured by this group of critics whose contribution to the world of cinema throughout the UK is invaluable and which too often goes unrecognised," the 33-year-old actress commented.
