Shooting in trains to cost Rs 1 lakh a day

NEW DELHI: The Indian Railways now wants to piggy-ride on Bollywood to make some quick bucks. The Railways has decided to increase shooting charge for a film to Rs 1 lakh per day from Rs 10,000 per day. A majority of Bollywood movies shoot some of the scenes on rail platforms. From Devdas (1954) to Pakeezah (1970) to Johnny Gaddar(2007), the Railways have contributed a significant role in our movies.

���For nearly three decades, the Railways did not hike the charge for Bollywood shooting in trains and railway platforms. Actually, this avenue of revenue generation completely missed our attention for long. Now, we have learnt that it���s an option to explore and earn a substantive moolah,��� a Rail Bhawan official said. The Railway officials are of the view that the move would not hit movie producers��� pockets, but it would surely swell railway coffers significantly. The revenue thus generated would be spent on improving infrastructure on the stations.
