The most awaited sequel of 2024, Pushpa 2: The Rule, has emerged as a pan-India success. The film, which is made within the budget of Rs400-500 crore, has garnered more than Rs750 crore in all languages in India alone in nine days of its release. Interestingly, the contribution of the dubbed Hindi version of the film to the total collection in all languages has been 60.1% at Rs453 crore. This shows that the film has emerged as a pan-India success.

Ramesh Bala, entertainment sector analyst based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu said, “A southern film which crosses over its home state and makes Rs100 crore in dubbed Hindi version is a pan-India success.” He said that Pushpa 2: The Rule has fulfilled most expectations of an able sequel just like K.G.F: Chapter 2, the sequel of the original Kannada film K.G.F: Chapter 1.

Pushpa 2: The Rule
has been released in more than 6000 screens in India alone, said trade analysts. They estimate that the film has been released in close to 2000 screens in overseas markets.

Ameya Naik, founder-Fantasy Films, an event management company, said, “The film has resonated deeply with the tier-II and tier-III audiences. This is even truer for Hindi heartland audiences. It meets all the criteria of a masala entertainer.” He added, “In the past one and a half decades, Telugu heroes have become like poets who are equally loved in translation by audiences outside their states.”

Themes such as fight against oppression, caste and class divides, justice, family as a binding unit and surviving against all odds have resonated with audiences beyond the southern states. Besides this, aggressive marketing in the northern region and increasing curiosity about the sequel have added to the huge footfalls in non-southern states.

According to trade analysts, more than 90% of shows in the non-southern states have been allocated to Pushpa 2: The Rule. A favourable factor which has worked for the film is high ticket prices. It is estimated that exhibitors have increased ticket prices by 30-40% from the usual ticket prices. This has added to the increasing contribution of the Hindi dubbed collection to the total collection in all languages.

Exhibitors and trade analysts estimate that the film can collect Rs1100-1200 crore in all languages since it has no competition at least for the next eleven days.
