Prasar Bharati's DD Free Dish platform earned a record-breaking revenue of nearly Rs 1070 crore from the auction of 65 slots, representing a 66% increase from last year's earnings from the sale of 59 slots.

Experts say that the change in auction methodology has paid rich dividends for Prasar Bharati. The pubcaster had allowed channels from different genres to bid for slots that were earlier reserved for specific genres. Earlier, channels could only bid for slots in their respective genres.

DD Free Dish slots are sold under six buckets: A+ (Hindi GEC), A (Hindi movie and teleshopping channels), B (Hindi music, sports, and Bhojpuri), C (Hindi news), D (other Hindi, regional, devotional, and English news channels), and R1 (regional channels that are not covered in any other buckets).
