Mumbai: Indian films and series generated 688 million views on Netflix during the first six months of 2026, according to the streaming platform's latest What We Watched report released on Friday. The company described the period as its strongest first half for Indian content to date.

According to the report, India was the largest contributor to non-English film viewing on Netflix during the January-June period and ranked third globally for overall film viewing, behind the United States and the United Kingdom.

Four Indian films—Dhurandhar, Accused, Made in Korea and Mardaani 3—featured in Netflix's Global Top 100 Films list. The company said Dhurandhar was the most-watched Indian film on the platform during the reporting period with 37 million views.

Five Netflix Original films from India—Accused, Made in Korea, Kartavya, Maa Behen and Toaster—also featured in the Global Top 500 Films list. Netflix said Made in Korea became the first South Indian film to reach the top of its Global Non-English Films chart at the time of release.

On the series front, Taskaree: The Smuggler's Web was the highest-ranked Indian series on Netflix's Global Top 100 TV list, while Desi Bling, Maamla Legal Hai, India's Got Latent, Glory and Kohrra also featured in the Global Top 500. The Great Indian Kapil Show was the second most-viewed Indian series on the platform by viewing hours, according to the company.

Netflix said it will continue investing in films, series, unscripted programming and creator partnerships as it looks to expand the global reach of Indian stories.
