Netflix is creating a dedicated discovery destination for southern Indian content with the launch of ‘Into the Southverse’, as it looks to make its expanding regional catalogue easier for viewers to navigate.

The streaming platform today launched the new collection on its India homepage, bringing together films and series from southern India across languages, genres, moods and stars.

Netflix said the product experience builds on its existing recommendation and discovery features by giving members a single destination to find content from the region.

The move comes as Netflix continues to increase its investment in content from the southern film industries. The company recently said members can expect an average of one new title every week from across southern India for the rest of 2026, including post-theatrical releases and Netflix Originals.

For Netflix, the challenge is increasingly not just adding regional content but making it easier for audiences to find it.

The company said its India Top 10 Films list has featured at least one film from southern India every week since 2025. In 2025, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films appeared on Netflix's Global Top 10 Non-English Films list in 39 of 52 weeks, while titles from southern India reached Top 10 lists in 59 countries outside India.

Into the Southverse brings these titles together in a dedicated destination, including theatrical releases such as Peddi, Blast, Amaran, Maharaja, Court: State vs A Nobody and Lucky Bhaskar.

It also features Netflix Originals including Pyaar Prema Kalyanam, Made in Korea and Super Subbu. Netflix said Made in Korea was the first title from southern India to reach No. 1 on its Global Top 10 Non-English Films list, while Super Subbu is its first Telugu Original series.

Upcoming titles including romantic-comedy series #Love and Legacy are expected to further expand the collection.

The launch is part of a broader push by streaming platforms to make large and increasingly fragmented content libraries easier to navigate. Netflix already uses personalised recommendations and curated collections to help users discover titles based on what they watch and search for.

Into the Southverse applies that approach to a specific regional content ecosystem, allowing viewers to browse southern Indian films and series without having to search separately by language, genre or star.

Netflix has used a similar approach elsewhere on its platform. Its ‘Watch Your Favorite Books’ collection, for instance, brings together films and series adapted from manga, novels, webtoons and other source material.

With Into the Southverse, Netflix is effectively turning its growing southern Indian catalogue into a more visible content destination—one that can serve both viewers specifically looking for regional stories and those who may be discovering them for the first time.

Into the Southverse is now available to Netflix members in India through the homepage or search.
