MediaKind to acquire Harmonic’s video business for $145 million

The combined company will bring together complementary strengths in SaaS streaming, appliances and cloud AV workloads. MediaKind said the merged operation will serve a blue-chip global customer base, generate more than $100 million in annual recurring revenue and over $150 million in annual appliance sales. With a business fully focused on video, the company expects stronger financial stability and long-term growth.
MediaKind added that integrating engineering teams, R&D centers and product road maps will help accelerate innovation and deliver next-generation video solutions more quickly across cloud and appliance environments.
“This combination would represent a meaningful step forward in our long-term strategy,” said MediaKind CEO Allen Broome. “Together, we would create the leading independent streaming infrastructure company, giving customers a stronger, more reliable partner to power the future of video.”
Harmonic CEO Nimrod Ben-Natan said the transaction, if completed, will allow Harmonic to double down on its core broadband business while ensuring its Video division moves to an organisation committed to video-delivery technology.
