Radio City to add 16 new stations

Private FM radio service provider Radio City 91.1 FM on Thursday said it plans to expand operations in the country by adding 16 new stations over the next three months from the present nine.

NEW DELHI: Private FM radio service provider Radio City 91.1 FM on Thursday said it plans to expand operations in the country by adding 16 new stations over the next three months from the present nine.

"In next three months, we would expand our network to 16 new cities to become a national player," Radio City National Head Marketing Rana Barua said.

The company is eyeing nearly 30 per cent share in the Rs 600 crore domestic FM radio market, he said.

Delhi is the biggest market for Radio City and the company plans to make programmes more interesting by including local news and views of common man targetted specifically at listeners in NCR.

"Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore combined account for as much as 70 per cent of the total FM market in the country in terms revenues but now we are witnessing growth in tier II cities and the company is looking for expansion in these markets," Barua said.

Radio City 91.1 FM is promoted by Music Broadcasters Private Ltd and has operations across operations in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Chennai, Jaipur, Vadodara and Ahmedabad.
